Day 1 and 2 at MDW 2025: The Best of Design at Milan So Far

The 2025 edition of Milan Design Week unfolded with a quiet intensity - a city rich in design history opening its doors once again to innovation, dialogue, and experimentation. From meticulously curated exhibitions to spontaneous encounters with form and material, Day 1 set the tone for what’s ahead - especially courtesy of our visit to the Superdesign Show which featured design ideas reimagined in an unprecedented manner.

As Milan Design Week 2025 moved into Day 2, the design dialogue only intensified. With each installation buzzing with the spirit of discovery, today's showcase offered a deeper dive into the evolving language of design - where form meets function, function meets freedom, and innovation continues to challenge the expected.

Beginning our journey on the second day, we found ourselves at Museo Poldi Pezzoli – where we came across Molteni&C flaunting their Letters to Milan installation. Since 1934, Molteni&C have exemplified innovation in design, and the Letters to Milan collection curated by Studio Klass represented a celebration of the city’s history and design evolution over the years. Continuing to explore the Museo Poldi Pezzoli, we then came across the latest edition of Gio Ponti Objects – a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of the legendary Milanese design maestro Gio Ponti.

Moving on, we reached the heart of Milan where we came across Palazzo Molteni, a flagship store housing state-of-the-art designs that combine tradition with transformation. The urban pavilion redefines the boundaries of design, expanding the scope of an eclectic discipline that has been shaped by cross-pollination and forward-thinking ideas. Inspired by the fusion of heritage and innovation on display, we went over to Studio Penta next.

At Studio Penta, we came across “Romantic Brutalism: A Journey into Polish Craft and Design” – an exhibition by the Visteria Foundation serving as a tribute to Poland’s craft and creativity. The exhibition – including the Marcin Rusak Studio and an installation dedicated to Agnieszka Owsiany – was testimony of how the historical influence of brutalism, romanticism, folk, and art deco continues to shape contemporary Polish design.

Moving on, we visited the NicolettiHome installation where we came across sofas that reimagine the concept of comfort as we know it – helping achieve unparalleled relaxation just at the push of a button.

We continued our course through couches as we visited the Koinor installation, where we came across sofas that provide an exceptional element of versatility courtesy of its unprecedented convertible arm and leg rest.

Lastly, we visited the Fama installation where we saw their fabric recliners exemplify a fusion of fashion and flexibility, with its chic, fashionable upholstery adding an element of style to the art of relaxation.

With the beginning behind us, the tone for this year’s edition of the world’s premium design event has been set. We’ve seen plenty, and yet it feels like the surface has only just been scratched. The journey ahead is full of possibilities, and we’re just getting started – make sure to stay tuned on our socials and website as you bring you all the LIVE updates you need.
